Ideas for reducing stress...
This month, I have had the pleasure of helping clients who have decided to build in massage to their stress management programme. In this age of not being to fully switch off, and the blessing/curse that is the smart phone, I have noticed an increase in the difficulty people have at not just work/life balance, but indeed work/life separation.
A short introduction to me doing Yoga...
As a busy massage therapist based at The Glasgow Treatment Rooms, I can meet clients who wish to tackle anything from acute pain, to how to just de-stress and relax, as well as improve their posture.
A question I am often asked also is ‘What’s the best type of exercise to do?’, my answer is always ‘Whatever you are willing to do that you enjoy!’
Get your Om On...Five Minutes with Kirsty Mac
What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
Shout at my alarm clock, get up and do a spot of yoga and then meditation most days. Sometimes, after I’ve being travelling a lot, I only shout at my alarm clock!
My Take on the Sirt Diet
This is my take on the Sirt food diet, a book by Aiden Goggins and Glen Matten.
It was first brought to my attention by a client when it featured in the Good Housekeeping magazine, and then by a fellow colleague Jane Black. I consider myself to be fairly fit, and I thought I had a good diet but in the last few months have been really bothered by bloating after eating, despite avoiding gluten in my diet, and cutting down on dairy.

Tell us what you do...
My job is to coach people to move better. I’ve found that it doesn’t matter what your training goal is, whether you want to gain, muscle, lose weight or learn to do a backflip having greater movement skills will get you to that goal with much greater ease.
What is your recipe?
Something that we all hear a lot of in January is.... 'So, what are your New Year Resolutions?' and to be honest? Whatever. Why give yourself destination syndrome of 'when I do this, get that, weight this, do that, I'll be happy/happier'
What I thought I knew for sure...
So, this is what I thought I knew for sure. I thought I was drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. Eh Nope. More like just over 1 litre if I'm lucky! I have been doing a lot of reading into water retention and dehydration, and my big heads up was that if you are dehydrated, your body will hang onto all the water that it can with a vengeance.
Zing With The New!
I had a really great conversation today with a fabulous woman called Katrina Mather. Katrina owns and runs a retreat called The Body Toolkit, and it does what it says on the tin. Anything to do with your wellness, Katrina has sound advice to hand and what can only be described as good old fashioned common sense when it comes to looking after yourself.
Instant Weight Loss Tip!
Here it is... Stand up straight! Really! This is an area of development for me too, I dash around most places with a rucksack on my back during the working week, and recently I have really had to be alot more aware of exactly how I am treating my back, and what support I am giving my body.
A Bee in my Bonnet
October is all about being kind to yourself I feel. We are about to go through a season change, clocks go back at the end of the month, a wee chill in the air, time to get cooried doon and think about how to look after ourselves in the winter months so that we emerge next spring like John Travolta at a dance class. Ding dong.
