So anyway...
Every day is a learning day.
Every day is chance to do, or do not do things differently from yesterday.
And Breathe...
Whatever you are doing, including about to read this... stop and take 5 deep breaths.
Here's what has just happened in your body, Venus (no oxygen) blood has been taken into the right side of your heart, which then fires it onto the lungs to pick up oxygen and become arterial blood (bright red), then the left side of the heart fires it all around the body.
Getting what you want, what you really really want...
This month, I have been very aware of how quickly society expects to get a reaction these days. Fast responses to text messages, emails, phone calls. Society at large has got used to everything happening immediately, and when did we start freaking out about now having a Wifi connection? Wow.
Tips for runners looking after their feet...
Foot care for me, is something that I have always done, but in the past year I've started going to see a professional to help me out and what a difference it has made. My feet are very good at giving me a warning that they are not happy during a run, and in the past I have ignored it, and pushed through, only to have to deal with the mess at the end of the race.
Why did the runner cross the road?
So, just to get right into it... I had a client in who is an experienced Marathon distance runner, anything to do with running lore, and this man has seen it, done it, got the T shirt, club tie, medal and sweatband...
In conversation he asked me if I had recently run the Ladies 10K in our fair city of Glasgow, and I said that I hadn't because I had been suffering from knee pain, and that during a run my knee was seizing up.. the conversation went thus
Ideas for reducing stress...
This month, I have had the pleasure of helping clients who have decided to build in massage to their stress management programme. In this age of not being to fully switch off, and the blessing/curse that is the smart phone, I have noticed an increase in the difficulty people have at not just work/life balance, but indeed work/life separation.
A short introduction to me doing Yoga...
As a busy massage therapist based at The Glasgow Treatment Rooms, I can meet clients who wish to tackle anything from acute pain, to how to just de-stress and relax, as well as improve their posture.
A question I am often asked also is ‘What’s the best type of exercise to do?’, my answer is always ‘Whatever you are willing to do that you enjoy!’
Get your Om On...Five Minutes with Kirsty Mac
What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
Shout at my alarm clock, get up and do a spot of yoga and then meditation most days. Sometimes, after I’ve being travelling a lot, I only shout at my alarm clock!
My Take on the Sirt Diet
This is my take on the Sirt food diet, a book by Aiden Goggins and Glen Matten.
It was first brought to my attention by a client when it featured in the Good Housekeeping magazine, and then by a fellow colleague Jane Black. I consider myself to be fairly fit, and I thought I had a good diet but in the last few months have been really bothered by bloating after eating, despite avoiding gluten in my diet, and cutting down on dairy.
