In praise of the low impact workout
So anyway... as well as being a massage therapist, I kind of see my place in the world as being the kind of person who makes the mistakes, so you don't have to, or in this case, come across an absolute golden nugget, and feel the need to pass it on!
Massage Myth Busters!
Contraindication is a long word with a simple meaning: a reason you shouldn’t receive a particular treatment, such as a massage. There are local contraindications—things like a small wound—that shouldn’t be massaged directly, but that don’t mean you can’t still get a perfectly good massage on other parts of your body. Then there are general contraindications, or situations in which you shouldn’t get a massage at all.
The low down on plastic in my life
This is a subject that has been on my radar for a few years now, but it's only started to gather momentum following Blue Planet 2. I really enjoyed watching parts of it, but I am total woose and can only handle so much animal trauma. Those poor bloody penguins!!!
Surviving Christmas/The Holidays/Winter
December! All rules are out of the window! Chocolate for breakfast, an inability to find the 'off' switch when it come to Quality Street, and prosecco at 10am.
I'm writing this primarily for ME as I am having flashbacks to last Christmas and New Year when my sleep pattern basically went to the dogs, and I developed a habit of sleeping till 11am.
Just one thing!
A few weeks ago, I got to thinking about my exercise, and what I do to keep fit, and more importantly, what I enjoy doing to maintain my fitness levels.
Here's a heads up. Sometimes when it comes to diet and exercise, I do actually have the attention span of a goldfish.
Me having an argument with my sleep pattern...
I've been giving this a lot of thought over the last few months. My sleep pattern. It's better than it was, but still not great. I've totally nailed going to bed earlier and not watching TV so late, but sometimes my sleep is so broken, I still feel shattered when my alarm goes off, so guess what? I hit the snooze button.
All change!
Change is in the air! Autumn is rolling in, now it's October. The light gets a little more golden in the afternoon at this time of the year, and Scotland can really show off if she chooses to, if you take to the hills.
Pregnancy Massage, FAQ's, and other misconceptions...
I love love love doing pregnancy massage. Blowing my own trumpet for a minute, I think my unique selling point around this is my consistency. My diary is up online, and you don't have to wait for a phone call back to book in. Help yourself!
The Glasgow Ladies 10k!
So anyway... I ran the ladies 10K in Glasgow on 4th June, short notice to keep a chum Julie company... Here is a list of smart and not so smart things I did in the lead up to it. Something for everyone I feel…
How I managed to set myself up to fail
Just recently, I got to thinking about how I am actually managing to talk myself in and out of situations, and setting myself up for failure.
Yup! It's moments like this just that it can just creep on me, and I have an 'a ha!' moment and realise what I'm doing.
