Rest… is not something you earn.
If you’re still feeling exhausted in March… it’s not just you.
There’s this quiet pressure at this time of year to feel “back on it.”
More energy. More motivation. A fresh start.
But for a lot of people, that’s not the reality.
Instead, it feels like:
You never fully switched off over winter
Work picked up faster than your energy did
You’re already running on low… and Q2 hasn’t even started yet
And here’s the part we don’t talk about enough:
👉 You don’t just “bounce back” from a busy or heavy season.
Your nervous system needs time to catch up.
We’ve normalised pushing through fatigue and calling it discipline.
But constantly overriding your energy doesn’t build resilience — it drains it.
So if you’re feeling behind right now, you’re not.
You’re likely just not fully recovered yet.
A few small shifts that can help:
• Lower the baseline, not raise the pressure
Instead of asking “How do I do more?”, try “What actually needs to get done today?”
• Build energy before you spend it
Simple things — getting outside early, proper meals, short breaks — they’re not extras, they’re foundations
• Stop treating rest like a reward
Rest isn’t something you earn after burnout. It’s what prevents it
• Notice your capacity, not just your calendar
Two people can have the same schedule and completely different energy for it
This time of year isn’t about becoming a new person overnight.
It’s about rebuilding your energy in a way that actually lasts.
Curious — how is your energy feeling right now as we head into spring?
I know I am going through a bit of reset at the moment, and, like I did coming into Autumn, my 3 favourite words are ‘throw it away’.
I am going through another period of decluttering and organising again, and it feels goooooood!
