Swedish Massage
This is a fantastic way to de-stress, and wind down after a hard day at work, or indeed on a day off. Swedish Massage is for clients looking for relaxation and to leave the massage with a lovely ‘floating on air’ sensation. I tend to tailor a Swedish Massage to suit the clients needs. If a person wants to relax, I keep the movements slow and methodical. If a person wants to feel invigorated, I can make the treatment brisk! Swedish Massage however is more than just a ‘skin tickle’, as if I find muscles that need to be destressed then I will ease them off and use a bit more pressure.
Deep Tissue Massage
This is a brilliant massage to get if you have been overdoing it on the sports front playing football, snow-boarding, ski-ing, tennis and golf. If you have tension in your muscles and need to become ‘unstuck’, or are under stress which has caused your back or neck muscles to sieze up, then this is the treatment for you! When clients leave the treatment they feel as if they have been ‘worked on’. It is relaxing also, but the client needs to work with the therapist communcating if pressure is too much or too little. Deep Tissue, as the name suggests works to the deeper layers of your muscles. I work on a clients muscles as deep as the muscle will let me.
Pregnancy Massage
I am very pleased to be able to offer Pregnancy Massage at Embody Massage and Holistic Clinic in Glasgow, and am happy to take bookings from clients who are over 12 weeks pregnant. Massage during a healthy pregnancy is perfectly safe for you and your baby. It is a fantastic massage to receive especially after 20 weeks when the hips and pelvis begin to adjust for the birth and back pain may be present. It is also of enormous benefit for Mums-To-Be suffering from restless legs. The massage is performed with the client lying on their side with what can only be described as ‘Pillow Heaven’. I use only the fluffiest of pillows, and a huge blanket to cover the client making this as relaxing and destressing a massage as possible.
Hot Stone Massage
Oh this is a good one….Hot Stone Massage is the ultimate in relaxation. As the name suggests it involves heated stones. What happens is that I take the hot stones out of the heater, I hold them in my hands, then let them go and massage the client. The heat transfers from the stones to my hands and makes for some really soothing massage strokes. When the stones have cooled down slightlyi I then massage the client with the stones. The stones are never placed directly onto the clients skin from the heater as they would cause a burn. I love having this treatment done to me, especially the ‘Cosy Toes’ part when stones are placed between the clients toes and also the arch of the foot. Very soothing, warming, and calming. Its a fabulous ‘Winter Warmer’ treatment.
